Chris Andino

Foreign Service Officer in Washington, DC

Chris Andino is the Director for Western Hemisphere Programs at the United States Department of State's Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs since July 2021.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Chris focuses on political and security affairs. He has earned several Department of State awards, including Superior Honor Awards for work on Iraq-Kuwait settlement issues, foreign assistance realignment, security cooperation with Mexico, and rule of law programming in Afghanistan.

Previous overseas assignments include Buenos Aires, Argentina; Kabul, Afghanistan; Panama; Kuwait; Tripoli, Libya; and Bogotá, Colombia. In Washington, he served in the Office of Mexican Affairs and as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, William R. Brownfield.

In 2002, Chris placed 17th overall on the 4th-place team at the Virginia State Bus Roadeo. Despite holding a bachelor's degree in international relations from the University of Virginia, Chris imposes his lifelong love of the Iowa Hawkeyes on his wife and two children.
